Unfortunately, we still encounter occupation, aggression, wars, double standards, terrorism, separatism, and the violation of human rights in our very complex and ever-changing modern world. For almost 30 years, 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan has been occupied by neighbouring Armenia. Karabakh, where my father was born and raised, as well as Aghdam, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Zangilan, Kalbajar, Lachin and Jabrayil are under enemy’s occupation. As a result of this violence and historical injustice, hundreds of Azerbaijanis were killed and thousands of peaceful civilians were injured. Up to 1 million people were expelled from their houses and forced to live as refugees and internally displaced persons. Their houses, properties, villages, lands were looted, our historical monuments, hundreds of public buildings, schools, hospitals, museums were ruined, all the infrastructure of a large area was destroyed. Each of these homeless people, whose rights have been violated, is my relative, brother, dear and loved one. For 30 years, like them, I have not been able to go to my ancestral land, have not been able to visit the graves of my ancestors.

We have endured this injustice for 30 years. We believe that the UN, the European Union, numerous human rights organizations and the international community will not turn a blind eye to the bad fortune of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis, the violated rights of these people will be restored someday and our country’s territorial integrity will be ensured soon. We believe that truth and justice will win...

Why haven’t the leaders, who have been talking about human rights from high tribunes of international organizations and exporting democracy to the world, international institutions and organizations taken any steps to protect the rights of 1 million people over these years?... Have not helped restore the legal borders of the aggressed country?... After all, each of these people, like us, is the head of a family, the holder of a job or a position, a scientist, an artist, a musician, a teacher or an ordinary citizen engaged in agriculture. Why Armenians are not expelled from our lands, despite the UN resolutions on the “unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan” adopted in 1993 and the statements of reputable international organizations?... Why are no sanctions imposed on the aggressor? What sane person would welcome or accept this situation?

Today, we have the right to liberate our lands, to return to our homes, to rebuild and restore our villages and towns destroyed by the enemy. Today, every Azerbaijani, regardless of the position, religious or political views, is proud to be at the forefront. Today, each of us, as one person, unites around our president and fights with the aggressor on the battlefield, on the fore and rear, and on the information front to liberate our native lands. This is a Patriotic War for us, our struggle for truth and justice. These days, each of us is a soldier, ready to fight to our last man, to our last breath! I am happy that my son is in the war zone like thousands of our soldiers. We are looking forward to the good news of victory of our heroic soldiers.

I wish that this injustice would finally end. Our Karabakh and other occupied regions of Azerbaijan would finally be liberated from the enemy, people would return to their lands, people live, create, plant, build and renovate comfortably. I wish that this war would be the last in the world.

Dear friends, I express my deep gratitude and endless thanks to each of our friends and brothers who support us these days. I would always be glad to see you in Baku, which is famous as an international city, and in our native Shusha, which is distinguished by its unique nature!

Sincerely,
