Early prototypes and first samples of cartoons in the world painting art have been presented to the cartoon-lovers in this book. First elements of the cartoon in the Egypt, Greek and Ro-manian arts have been analysed. The essence of the cartoon in the society as a kind of art has been proved with reasonable facts. The book has been approved by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic as a textbook. The book, which was published in Azerbai-jani language and into which 321 illustrations were placed is the first textbook which may give detailed informa-tion on the caricature.
